Resonance String Orchestra presents Deep Time
Deep Time - a musical exploration of microbes, seasons, planets, humanity and beyond” saw Resonance traverse diverse terrain, including Vivaldi's "Spring" concerto (from the Four Seasons) with soloist Thomasina Challender, the beloved Adagio from the ballet Spartacus by Khachaturian and a compelling string orchestra arrangement of Holst's "Mars" (The Planets Suite).
Also featured were the newly formed string quartets of the Woodend and Castlemaine Resonance branches, playing works by Mendelssohn and Nardini. These were the debut performances for these quartets, which were tutored by Resonance Artistic Patron Zoe Knighton under a partnership between Resonance and the acclaimed Flinders Quartet.
Other program highlights are Melbourne-based composer Dindy Vaughan’s evocative “Can't Put Out the Flame" suite, which was recently performed by Resonance to Chewton PS students as part of a collaborative exploration of Art and Music created on Country, undertaken in consultation with local elder Aunty Kerri. Continuing the local theme, concert goers were also treated to the premiere of three works by co-Artistic Director Emma Wade, including a piece inspired by Leanganook in Djaara Country.
